Thank you all for participating first of all, May ALLAH Subhanah Ta’lah bless you all, May ALLah increase your iman and your Barakaht in all that you do.

1. Start with making your niyat ( Intention).
2. Say Bis Mi Lah! ( In the Name of God.)
3. First Here is the format for your essays. ( A moment in Time)

A. Choose a Topic.

The essays should be emotionality based to provoke the audience. To get them connect to your emotions as a human being.

1. Happiness- A happy Moment.
2. Sad- A sad Moment.
3. Excitement – An Extremely Exciting Moment.
4. Spirituality – A moment of Spiritual Awaking/ Spirituality.

B. The creative Writing Portion in Focus, and contents.

We want the person reading the article to connect to your emotions, connect to you in a moments time in your life, connect to you as a human being first. Before the religion. So islam should always be a indirect thing your talking about. I am putting it in different sections of the book under the master framework in the book. This portion is to get you to think of your story in creative terms . I posted The Yellow Wall Paper for you all to read and get an idea about creative literature expression.

1. Use of symbols. ( Colors, signs, smells- Google for more ideas on symbols. To a women being a house wife symbolizes- being inferior to men in some peoples eyes. Be creative.)
2. Use emotional descriptive language. ( google for terms- passion, lust, thirsty, dying, depressed, etc.)
3. Transform issues to expressionism. ( Like in The Yellow Wall Paper- The women feels oppressed she expresses the process by which she goes through this by her observing the wall paper. – She thinks its repulsive, she tears at it, she swears at it, she removes it. It makes her feel uneasy, trapped, annoyed. )
4. Provide descriptive scenic info. ( Include the surroundings in this moment, the sky was gray, as we walked down the road we passed a bush, a wave smashed up on the side of the cliff and on too us as we stood on the pebble trail in the back yard of our beach house.)
5. Proof read. Again and again. At least 3 times for errors in spelling, grammar, and mistakes. But write the way you would talk. Its ok if it is broken English, and if you use words that are not English put the translated meaning in brackets next to the word. Inshallah ( God Willing)
6. Change the names of real life people. Just for privacy reasons and not to label people we know as bad or whatever in the essay.

2. Friends
3. Marriage
4. Love
5. Death
6. Parenting
7. Spirituality
8. Work
9. Diversity
10. Nationalism
11. Traditions
12. Sexism, Gender Roles of males and females in your culture and in your demographic region.

13. Others will be acceptable if it follows the writing guidelines.

D. Writing Criteria

1. 3,000 – 10, 000 words.
2. Deadline is Oct 1st 2009. In word doc file. Word 07.

4. Must include an author criteria page.

You can remain anonymous. But include your Sex, Age, Location, Ethnic/ Race background, If your a convert or not, Why you want to do this project, If your parents were converts or no. Where you grew up. IN the USA, big city, your education level, what is your education in, or what are you planning to get an education in. Any volunteer work you do. And make up a quote to include at the beginning of your essay. ( This give the Audience an idea about who is writing this.
